Elastic Time

A game of life played with strings, walls and connections.

Elastic Time

This work questions how aware we are of the relationships we build during a lifetime: the weight they carry, and how we can be trapped by the very things that made us feel alive. It asks you to notice the invisible strings attached to you, and the possibility that you are a puppet in a network that takes on a life of its own once it is born.

The installation is a space where people play a game of life. It combines an artistic picture of the network we all live in with the struggle to move forward. Visitors climb the walls, create new connections by attaching strings, cut old ones, or simply stay. At every moment, a central figure stands for an anonymous person whose life you are influencing, and its only purpose is to keep moving forward.
